NEW PATIENT HEALTH CHECKS

All new patients are encouraged to have this health check, usually performed by a practice nurse. It enables us to advise you on the appropriate use of our medical services and also screens for common disorders such as high blood pressure and diabetes.

HEALTH PROMOTION CLINICS

Patients between 35 - 75 who have not had a blood pressure check in the last 5 years will be offered an appointment.

FAMILY PLANNING

We can provide advice on any aspect of family planning including oral contraceptives, coils, caps, implants, injections and sterilization. A routine appointment is required. For emergency contraceptive advice an urgent appointment with the doctor or practice nurse can be offered. We can also provide advice on teenage sexual health matters.

TRAVEL CLINIC

For all your immunisation and health advice when traveling abroad please make an appointment with our practice nurse. We are also a Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre

ANTENATAL CLINIC

MINOR INJURY CLINIC

We provide an all day (week day) Minor Injury Clinic for injuries sustained in the last 48 hours. You will be assessed on arrival and your injury will be treated by a trained nurse or doctor if appropriate. In some cases we may need to refer you to the nearest Accident and Emergency department.

The Minor Injury Clinic is not just available to our own patients, it is open to all patients living within a 5 mile radius of the surgery, regardless of whether they are registered at this practice or not.

ASTHMA CLINIC

Dedicated nurse run clinics take place on a weekly basis by appointment. Asthma reviews can be arranged at any time by appointment.

DIABETES AND HYPERTENSION CLINIC

Regular review of diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure) leads to improved control and a reduction in complications. These clinics are run by a nurse or doctor with a full examination every 12 months and control checks 6 monthly.

CERVICAL SMEARS

Cervical smears are routinely performed by the practice nurses at any mutually convenient time during surgery hours by appointment.

CHILD HEALTH SURVEILLANCE
