The Sleaford Practice was formed in 1946 but formally became known as Sleaford Medical Group in 1961. For most of these years and indeed to 1992 we practiced from Rhodes House or the “new” surgery behind it on Northgate.
Our current premises were purchased in 1991 and converted to our specifications in 1992. The building has a varied and interesting background. Originally a brewery, it then had a period as a steam laundry but more recently was extended and utilised by a large printing company. Extensive changes were made to incorporate a modern medical facility whilst maintaining many of the building’s original features. Internal development has continued since occupation in March 1992 providing further administrative and clinical accommodation.
Our spacious, modern accommodation includes a large waiting room and reception area and a superbly equipped Treatment Room with separate minor surgery facilities. Consulting rooms are spacious and there are extra rooms for nurse consultations. In 2000 we created three new consulting rooms, which are used by our Nurse Practitioner, physiotherapist, midwives and visiting consultants from local hospitals who hold out-reach clinics here. There is ample office space and a fully equipped dispensary. We also have a large conference room including a medical library. There are car parking spaces available for staff and patients.
Although a large practice we are conscious of maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It is also our aim to provide high quality care to patients and to be a practice that you are proud to be associated with.
We have been fully computerised since 1990. The surgery is well equipped with networked PCs and medical equipment. We employ 3 part-time and 3 full-time Practice Nurses who cover all surgery hours and run a number of Clinics. We also employ a Health Care Support Worker and Phlebotomist.
In addition to our Practice Nurses, Practice Manager and Finance & IT Manager, we also employ Receptionists, Dispensers, a Summariser and Clinical Administrator, Secretarial staff and a Handyman. Attached are nine District Nurses, two Health Visitors, four Midwives and the Community Psychiatric Nurse team. To find out more about our staff click here.
